Berklee College of Music re cently announced the re cipients of the Berklee AR Rahman Scholarship at St Andrew's auditorium in Bandra.Three students -Aman Sagar from Uttarakhand, Ronojit Chahila from Assam and Sarthak Mudgal from Delhi -who will begin their courses at the college this Fall received a full tuition scholarship each. The total combined value of the scholarships is USD 516,000. While conferring the award, musician AR Rahman spoke about how students must be perseverant if they wish to make a career in the music industry. He said, “Students must pursue studies in their field of interest and strive to be the best in the field. Persistence is key.“ Added Roger Brown, president, Berklee College of Music, “India has a lot of talent which fails to reach a mass audience. The scholarship is aimed at giving students easier access to an education in music.“
A celebratory concert was held at the venue after the scholarship announcement. The concert featured a programme by a Berklee student and faculty band as well as special guest appearances by personalities from the music industry including Vijay Prakash and Clinton Cerejo.
